Hey gang,
Well, I dunno how else to say this, so I'll just throw it out there; I'm calling it quits. I've been painting cars for almost 10 years now, and well, I've come to terms with the fact that it's time for me to walk away.
Am I burned out? No. Am I stressed out? Yes, but not because of car painting (ahem... work <G>). Am I upset, hurt, or angry? Not remotely. I've enjoyed every minute of being a car painter and being part of the SIM painting community. Am I out of my mind? Well, that's debatable, but I prefer to think of it as recognizing when a priority change is in order, and not being afraid to change it up.
IFREEZN.com will still be around, but will probably soon have other sections for other interests I've developed over the past couple of years. I wanna do more racing with the PWF T/A Mod (and with the Prototype C mod for F1 Championship) so this will give me more time to practice (I need it). Also, I'm a Game Producer for Pogo.com now, and will be posting a lot of my 'practice' projects here. Will I keep the NASCAR stuff up? You bet your butt, I just won't be adding to it anymore.
At any rate, I don't want to make a huge deal out of this, but do want to take a minute to thank a few people:
- The guys at Papyrus - Thanks for giving us such a fantastic playground to play in, and building it with passion and with pride. You guys will never know how many doors this game has opened for me and my career, and how many endless hours of enjoyment I have gotten, and will continue to get from this extraordinary game.
- The guys and gals at TLS - Thanks for everything, guys. TLS has been a great place to hang out, share ideas, push each other's limits (and buttons <g>) and build some lasting friendships.
- Butch Davis - Thanks for never blowing smoke up my @$$, and being willing to tell me when something I did was crap. You're a helluva guy, and a helluva friend. Thanks for bein' there. I look forward to smokin' your butt on the track, now that I'll have more time to practice. ;)
- The PWF Crew - You guys have successfully done what I always wanted but never could do, turned this game into a legitimate road racing simulation. From road course nuts like me everywhere... THANK YOU!!
- Brian Simpson - I can't imagine a a more shining example of what a car painter should be than Brian. Brilliant, creative, selfless and helpful. Thanks for putting in so much time and effort on those templates to allow us to focus on being creative. Even with the praise you get, you're still the most under-appreciated man in the NASCAR Sim Community, and without question, the Roy Hobbs of car painting (There goes Brian Simpson, the best there ever was in this game). You will always have my utmost respect and admiration.
- Chris and Chris from Sim-World - Guys, I don't know if you're still out there, but thanks for giving me (and my cars) a home when we were homeless. You're both class acts of the highest order.
- Chris, Jay and James - The torch is yours, gentlemen, and it couldn't be in better hands. Do us all proud.
- Everyone who's ever visited this site - Thanks for stopping by. =)
I don't wanna leave you guys empty handed, so I have a few presents for you. The first is a handful of alternates I've been sitting on for quite a while now. The other is the .car file for my Trans Am ride, the Rain-X Jaguar. I'll be shaking the rust off and jumping online for some T/A racing, so keep that car file handy just in case we meet again on a road course near you. ;)
Thanks for everything, gang. It's been an absolute blast.
- Freez
