There are basically two kinds of cars in the archives,
imaginary and
fictional cars. "What's the difference?", you say.
Well, Imaginary cars have completely made-up sponsors. My warped, over-active imagination gets the best of me at times, and I make up a sponsor like 'Shav-O Razors' or 'Vision Glassworks'. Usually I paint the car first, and then make up a sponsor and slap it on the car. These cars usually end up being the wilder and more interesting cars, because I'm not limited to the colors used by a logo someone
else made.
Fictional cars, on the other hand, have real-life companies as sponsors. There's an Oakley car, a Nike car, that kind of stuff. However, the paint schemes are all from my own imagination, but I try not to get too wild with these. Of course, me not getting to wild is still wilder than what you'll see from most people. Like I said, my imagination gets the best of me sometimes. ;)
So, now you know what's what and you can start browsing through the sections. To view a car before you decide whether or not it's worth downloading, click 'VIEW' and an image of it will appear in a new browser window automatically. Click 'Download' to get a zipped .PCX file of the car. These cars are all for Nascar2/Nascar99. They WILL not work in NASCAR Racing 3 or NASCAR Legends. If you're a car nut, you probably already know this. Have fun, and while I don't have as many cars as E-Bay does items for auction, looking through them is as addictive as E-bay. You've been warned. ;)
In case you're wondering why some cars look different from others, I've been painting cars for a LONG time, and as I've learned to use the tools available to me (namely Paint Shop Pro and some cool filters) the look and quality of the cars have changed over time (I like to think the changes have all been for the better). So you may see some cars that aren't as smooth and don't have as fine levels of details as say, the 2000 alternative cars.
Also, I probably won't be adding to this section much until a new incarnation of NASCAR Racing becomes available which renders the old one 'obsolete'. I'm hoping that the next version of NASCAR will have a full-color palette, which will free me up to REALLY knock everyone's socks off. There are so many cool tricks and effects I can't do with the current color set, and I just PRAY that someday I'll be able to share them with you all. ;)
At any rate, these cars are the final product of a lot of time and energy. Probably hundreds of hours if I counted them all up. So here's the part where I tell you not to post them anywhere else. You're free to use a paint scheme of mine for a league or just for your own personal use, but please make sure that any website that you have the car posted on lists me as the author. I don't charge for cars or anything like that, but I do ask that I get credit. I don't think that's too much to ask. ;)
