Welcome to the long-awaited Car Painting
tutorial by yours truly, IFREEZN. Over the past few years, there
have been several car painting tutorials put out by various car
painters. They were good efforts that had plenty of information on
how to get started painting cars with Paint Shop Pro, but seemed to
be just enough to get you familiar with the process, and
that’s about it. No knock on the authors at all, I can understand
completely why they did it that way. I’ve invested a GREAT deal of
time and energy into this, far more than a sane person would ever
put in. ;)

This tutorial is different. I don’t show you
how to paint a car exactly like me from step one to step 50.
Instead, I’m teaching you how to use the various tools I use, and in
turn giving you the foundation of information and understanding that
you’ll need to develop your own process for painting cars in Paint
Shop Pro. My hope is that by the time you’re done with this
tutorial, you’ll have a solid understanding of how Paint Shop Pro
works, and you’ll know how to create and combine the various
elements that turn a regular ol’ car into a 750 HP Michelangelo. ;)
Hopefully, if I’ve done my job, you’ll not only be able to do what
I’ve taught you, but you’ll be able to develop some tricks and
processes for yourself, and develop your own individual
style.
More than likely, if you’re reading this it’s
because you have Paint Shop Pro and used it to paint some cars, to
varying degrees of success. If you don’t have Paint Shop Pro, head
over to www.jasc.com and pick up
the evaluation version. If version 5 is available, I recommend that.
I know you can get version 6, that will work for this tutorial, but
I prefer version 5 and the tutorial is geared more towards that
version. Any version previous to 5 won’t work for this tutorial. End
of story.
You’ll get 30 days to toy with the evaluation
version, and it has all the goodies. That’s more than enough time to
go through this tutorial. By the time you’re finished, I guarantee
you’ll have worked Paint Shop Pro to the point where you’ll know if
it’s worth purchasing or not. I’ll be very surprised if you don’t
end up feeling that it’s a program worth paying for. ;)
So, whaddaya think, are you ready to rumble?
