Modern Period
This was the only song I demanded to play for my recital. I acquired a recording of legendary Bass trombonist of the Chicago Symphony, Charlie Vernon playing this piece. After enjoying it as a listener for a few years I felt my bass trombone chops were finally ready to tackle this piece and do Charlie Vernon proud. The fat/beautiful/technical sound called out to me when listening to it, and I still savor every pedal tone as if it is my last. I will be playing this piece again for a Master Class with famous trombonist Chris Brubeck at UoP on the 13th of April 2007. (5pm)
